And we're back

Sorry about the extended delay.  Having a little hosting trouble.

We are back online, and the downloads should be working.

Now, I have been out of the loop for a little while but I am back in the saddle.  I will be getting this site back up to par, like the old DNN site was for VB 2005, and get my articles up here with some new content and like that.  If you have things you want to see up here - video walkthroughs or article ideas or samples, let me know.

One thing that I am very interested in is XAML with VB backing it up.  I think XAML will be the future of Microsoft development, and after the Olympics used it to such great effect Silverlight will be everywhere.  If you have any ideas let me know.

Commenting seems to be broken - I'll figure that out tonight if I can and you all can get back to using the comments engine here. (EDIT: Got that working!)

Alright, I think that is about it.  Carry on.

I'm on Twitter

Wednesday, October 15 2008         No Comments

Peter Gordon, a fellow software designer that focuses on user experience, pointed out that I gotta be on Twitter to make it easier to chat with readers.

OK, fair nuff.  I am on Twitter.  My handle on there is sempf - is that enough to follow me with?  Probably.  Anyway, hope to see a few of you.

EDIT: Wow, there is a Twitter widget for Graffiti!  I have it set up on the right bar.

Hey, I got the samples done.

I'll do a write up on each one eventually, I promise.

Some of my VBRun articles

Tuesday, September 23 2008         No Comments

Here are links to some of the articles that I wrote for MSDN back between the VB2005 and VB2008 book.

Moving your legacy hardware code to VB2005

Visual Basic 2003: a Framework Tour

Increasing productivity with Visual Basic 2005

Deploying contemporary applications with ClickOnce

Comparing ASP.NET 2.0 and Visual Basic 6 Webclasses

Just some very specific topics that I have drilled down on for MSDN.  There are a few more that got lost in the Library.  I'll dig them up and post them here.

Northwind Database

Here is the link to the download for Northwind:

I didn't know that there were still so many readers of the VB 2005 book, when VB 2008 has been out for a looong time now.  I'll update the site with the old VB 2005 errata.  The VB 2008 book is a lot more error-free.
